As a healthcare provider, you may or may not be responsible for financial and budget tasks, but
you will encounter situations and issues, which will relate to financial management. You will
need to identify a patient care problem with an impact on budget as a financial management issue
in your workplace.
Identify a patient care problem with an impact on budget as a financial management issue in your
workplace. Conduct a search for a minimum of two peer-reviewed articles that discuss the issue
you have identified. Synthesis and critically analysis the information found in the literature and
its applicability to financial issue.
Interview a minimum of two co-workers or those responsible for finance in your organization on
the financial management issue that you identified. This could be your unit manager and/or
Chief Nursing Officer. Your interview should capture salient information about the issue
including information which you derived from the literature. Potential questions you might want
to use, include: How long has the organization tried to address this issue? What measures have
been taken to address this issue in the past? What future steps have been planned to address this
issue? What problems does the organization foresee as blocks to addressing this issue? How did
your perception of the financial issue differ from the perception of those who are actually
working on finances in the organization? Be sure to explain the roles of the individuals you
interviewed. As you reflect on the results of the interview, use current literature to further
explain the important points
Based upon your review of the literature and interviews, create an analysis of the patient care
financial problem and specify the potential budget impact. You do not need to create specific
budgetary numbers, but can describe these findings in other terms, such as small or large. Your
analysis should be supported by several references from peer-reviewed publications.
You have now identified a problem, collected information related to the problem and analyzed
your findings. You will need to explore potential solutions to the problem. In addition to your
own ideas, you can also contact the individuals you interviewed to learn about any suggestions
they may have for solutions to the problem. Conduct a review of the literature to also identify
possible solutions for the problem. This should be a 4-6 page APA formal paper. Please remember to
using APA when writing this assignment.
