There are multiple models for change that can be used to assist you as a leader when you are attempting to drive change in processes for quality improvement throughout your organization. As a leader, in order to drive change in an organization, you must also focus on individual change. Organizations are made up of a collection of individuals and in order to orchestrate change for the organization, you must properly manage change among the individuals being impacted by the change. Collaboration, input and teamwork from key stakeholders is imperative. You will use a QI model to address the problem statement below to create change for improved organizational quality.
Problem Statement
The rapid-acting insulin distribution process is broken and leads to workarounds. This presents a risk of medication errors for patients. Your organization reported 47 medication errors with rapid-acting insulin across all units in the last 6 months over the 22,000 insulin administrations. You are concerned and want to work toward change.
Action Items
