Sociologist view gender as a social construct which can be fluid and change in its meaning and social labels between different groups and times in a society. Essentially, from a sociological perspective, the labels and expectations that we attach to gender can be constructed and deconstructed based on changing norms, values and social expectations of a culture.

1) Explain what Judith Butler means by the term gender performativity. Please use at least two examples from the video clip.
2) Then, please choose whether you would like to share an example from your own life OR if you would like to discuss a piece of media (movie, documentary, music album, or video game). A:If you are going to discuss your own life, please include a photo THAT YOU HAVE TAKEN that shows gender performativity. (Or you could include a photo that does not fit within the notion of gender performativity.) Please explain the image in connection with your understanding of gender. OR B: if you would like to discuss a piece of media please list three ways in which you see gender performativity in the piece of media you chose (movie, documentary, music album, or video game).
