Process quality-assessment study
Laundry is a common day-to-day task used while cleaning clothes to remove odor, stains,
contaminants, and dirt. The process is a continuous household chore for maintaining personal
hygiene (Kipps et al., 2023). However, it is often a tedious process, especially when it involves
only one family member doing laundry for the entire household. After giving it much thought, I
developed a laundry process improvement tool that could allow anyone to participate in the
laundry process to help mom and still leave everyone satisfied. I considered the improvement
opportunity as my mother feels uncomfortable leaving the process to anyone else in the family.
Still, everyone thinks of it as a very complicated process, hence overworking one party.
After reviewing a successful laundry process, I discovered that approximately ten crucial
laundry steps vary in time allocation for each process. As such, my intention is to track the time
needed for each operation in two working days and develop a chart for the rest of the family
members to understand the procedure and easily help whenever required.
The following table shows all the laundry processes and the time needed for each process.

After monitoring the process, I discovered that the time allocated for each process varies
on several factors, including the wash cycle chosen, the amount of clothes, the level of dirtiness
presented and the effectiveness of the washing machine (Lyons, 2023). Therefore, the
monitoring process would require approximately two more weeks to successfully evaluate the

tool based on the newly discovered variations in assessing an effective laundry process. Success
in developing the monitoring tool would ensure efficacy in performing the laundry process in the
family. Only one family member would not complete the duty, but everyone would successfully
participate while following the allocated time for each process.
