Application Presentation below for full assignment details. You can use bullet points for this outline. Please use EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy) as the family therapy theory and Endometriosis or Sickle Cell Disease as the illness.
You will present an application of a family therapy or family studies theory to a medical illness or health issue. You will be asked to use family systems/science concepts and theories to explain the issue and then describe how a family therapist/family studies expert could intervene. The presentation should be a PPT, and your recorded presentation and take approximately 20 minutes (15 minutes minimum/25 minutes maximum). One slide per minute is recommended. Font size should be easily readable. (Please just include a script that I can read for the recorded presentation along with the Powerpoint, no need to record it yourself).
Family Therapy Theory: This activity will help you conceptualize theory-based treatment for working with a couple or family struggling with an illness. Your presentation should include the following but does not have to be in this order:
– Select an illness/condition/population.
-Provide an overview of the illness (biopsychosocial domains) and discuss the family system dynamics related to the illness/condition.
– Create a case example, of either a couple or family, in which one of the members of the family has the selected illness, injury, or disability. This case example should include relevant background info such as demographics and socio-cultural contexts (including home, work, and socioeconomic status). Discuss the client’s relational/systemic context such as significant relationships as well as relational difficulties.
-Based on the case example, describe a systemic conceptualization of the family’s experience of illness through the lens of a selected family therapy theory (e.g. EFT, Structural) and how it can be applied to the family.
-Discuss how the theoretical foundations covered in class (e.g., illness typology as described by Rolland) and your chosen family therapy theory contribute to your case conceptualization.

Write 3-5 bullet points describing your selected theory. Discuss core aspects of
the theory and how it relates to medical illness. You do not have to describe every part of the theory but you should describe at least some important elements that will relate to families and illness.
