PERSONAL Timeline
A personal timeline helps to organize important events and milestones in your life. When working with children and families, personal timelines, like genograms, are useful to comprehend the past, open up discussions of current concerns, and develop future goals. They are also useful for assessing developmental milestones or stages found in various theories for cognitive development, moral development and others.
Your personal timeline will include FIVE different ages and different developmental stages(about a page per age)or significant events in your life. With each of these events describe a)where you were living and with whom(if relevant), b) what happened,c)why was this event in your life significant or life changing in your life, d) how has this event affected/guided who you are today?
For example, if you are 66, you might want to include a time between ages 0-10, 11-21, 22-35, 36-50, 51-66. If you are 26 years old, you might create a timeline ages 0-5, 6-11, 12-18, 19-23, 23-26
