Review several of your colleagues’ posts and welcome at least three of your peers by 11:59 p.m. on Day 7 of the week. You are encouraged to post your required replies earlier in the week to promote more meaningful interactive discourse in this discussion. In your replies to colleagues, find points of mutual interest or experience. How might these similarities relate to your mutual academic and career goals? If your colleague chose a method different from your own, how might your colleague’s description of its usefulness change your interest in the method?
Post Your Introduction [WLO: 1] [CLO: 3]
Post your introduction, including who you are, where you live, your academic and career
goals, and your ideas about the role of research in your future. Take a moment to
review the weekly overviews on the course home page and examine the major research
methods that will be covered in the course. Based on your current understanding of
these major research approaches, select one method you are particularly interested in
researching further, and explain why you are interested in learning more about this
method. How might this method be useful in your future career?

Latisha Laverne
Hello Class and Instructor Murphy,
My name is Latisha Laverne and I reside in Lake Charles, La. I am United States Army
staff sergeant retired veteran. I have one daughter that is an absolute
sweetheart. University of Arizona Global campus was the college I attend to pursue my
B.A. in psychology, which I received in the year of 2021. Currently, I am pursing my
degree in the field of human services for my master’s program. My academic goal is to
strive for excellence and do the best I can. My career goal is to make a difference in a
community to help to serve others. One method that I am particularly interested in is
the qualitative method. The reason as to why I am interested in this method is because
it displays a detailed process of having several different realities. It focuses on data
collection and recording information. It is very informative. I wish everyone the best in
this course. I know we all can pass successfully.

Introduction
Le’roy James
Instructor: Dr. Pamela Murphy
Due Date: 5/16/2023
Hello class, my name is Le’roy James and I’m here to make a deference going forward
as there have been many times in my life where I wasn’t able to make it through. This I
am sure that I’m not the only one. But we can take it to the Lord, in prayer and he will
carry us through, if only we are willing. Some of you may already have me in previous
classes, so you know what I stand for and how I am willing to do all I can to make a
difference. So, in the next 6wk’s we can all strive to do the same. I have learned a lot
about myself, my shortcomings as well as my pluses. We are here to make a difference
while gaining as much knowledge as possible. This knowledge may come to the point
where we will have to rethink our views and adjust along the way as we begin to
decipher new concepts of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods. I do find these
terms somewhat confusing, but I am sure we will get them right and be able to
distinguish the difference. I look forward to hearing from each of you from time to time,
moving forward. I know that we will find common ground here and sometimes not so
common. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Again, we can do it and have some
fun too.

Manage Discussion Entry
Good afternoon,
My name is Austin and I live in Alabama. This is my fifth class towards my masters in
psychology degree with UAGC. I am recently retired from the military after 21 years of
service and school is my only job now. I was in the Air Force and lived all over the
world. My assignments included Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Wyoming
and Florida. Although I do miss certain aspects of the military, I am determined to enjoy
my retirement and I look forward to learning new lessons and meeting new people.
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in emergency management
as well as a masters in criminal justice. Additionally, during my military career I
completed numerous certification and leadership course to include my professional
mangers certification and both senior joint enlisted leaders’ courses. Since retiring I
have found I have an abundance of time on my hands and decided to continue my
education to learn and grow as a person. Psychology was one of the curriculums that
interested me because I want to learn how to help and understand people better and I
figured that the courses offered with this degree plan may give me the tools to do just
that. Once I have completed this degree’s requirements I may or may not pursue
certification through the state.
The mixed method of research interests me because of the versatility and various
approaches you can use with this approach. It is also viewed as a type of research that
provides a more complete understanding of the issue being studied because it uses
both quantitative and qualitative methods. Additionally, this type of research can find
points of intersection between quantitative and qualitative methods rather than just
relying on one method (Crestwell & Crestwell, 2018).
