Below is the description for the assignment. Please write about attending a spiritual or religious experience as if you’re a non-religious person who doesn’t attend church. If you can write about experiencing mass at a catholic church or going to chrisitan church or synagogue that would be ideal. This is for a marriage and family therapy course on using spirituality in practice. Please answer all questions at the bottom of this prompt.
For many of the remaining discussion boards, there will be need for a commitment to participate in a new to you religious or spiritual practice/activity and to discuss these experiences in our weekly online discussions. Religious and spiritual activities can include experiences such as meditation practice, dream analysis, yoga practice, and attendance at religious or spiritual services/activities different from one’s own. Each week there will be different aspects of this experience you will be discussing with your classmates and reflecting upon how these new experiences are impacting the way you view spirituality and client care. It is important to find experiences that may make you uncomfortable due to lack of knowledge and experience with the religious/spiritual practice or activity.
Session 7 Specific Activities
During Sessions 4-7, identify a spiritual practice you can participate in and set up the time or space to participate in it. This may include finding a religious ceremony at a church, synagogue, mosque or other religious buildings. It could also include a class in which you learn the spiritual practices you researched in the session 2 discussion post. As you participate in these practices or activities, if appropriate, take pictures or videos to document your experiences. These pictures and/or videos can be included in your discussion posts. You will need to participate in these activities through sessions 4-7 and participating in more than one spiritual practice, activity or conversation is encouraged over the next 4 weeks.
