Instructions
For this week’s journal, you will need to consider safety planning in your agency and the procedures put into place to safeguard those in your agency. In your journal, be sure to address:
How you would prepare for a client that is potentially dangerous – before, during, and after your visit.
Describe the emergency procedures your agency has in place to handle violent client.
Discuss any specific rules or regulations in your state related to working with dangerous clients and workplace safety.
Add to your table of statutes that will be part of your Signature Assignment due in Week 11. Specifically, you will go to your state’s licensing board website and see if there are specific statutes or information related to dangerous clients. If you have difficulty finding the information, you may need to go to secondary websites (such as the state’s NASW website and or policy sites such as the National Conference of State Legislature’s to look for the information. However, you will need to have the specific link to your state’s website and the statute for your Signature Assignment table (see the table below as an example).
This might take a little detective work on your part; however, you will need to locate these statutes related to your practice as part of your work as a professional. As you have learned throughout your courses, your state and federal policies guide your practice, so it is important that you know how to find this information.
Below is an example of the information that you need for your Signature Assignment. You will complete similar assignments throughout the course leading up to your Signature Assignment. Note: As part of the second half of your field placement, you will continue to work on finding these statutes.
