Debate on medicallly assisted suicide

Below is the requirements:

Discuss ethical and legal issues related to the profession of nursing.

Discuss future challenges facing nursing today.

Provide opportunity to apply patient advocacy, public speaking, and critical thinking skills.

Debate topics and teams will be randomly selected the first week of class.

Research both sides of the issue thoroughly.

Prepare debate argument based on research.

On the day of the debate, present a strong, persuasive argument about debate position and refute the opposition in a professional manner, citing sources from the literature (article title, author, name of journal publication).

Note cards may be used during the debate.

Rebuttal is spontaneous and unrehearsed.

Audience will provide feedback for the debaters according to established criteria.

Faculty will grade the debaters according to established criteria

Opening statement from each side 4 min each

Rebuttal by opposition 3 min each

Second rebuttal 3 min each

Summation statement 2 min
