In this milestone, you will work from the topic, applied setting, and research questions you identified in Module Two and start identifying relevant research to support your final proposal. Two major aspects of your final project include selecting foundational theories relevant to your topic and suggesting potential strategies or techniques that may alleviate a problem in an applied setting. To help you prepare for these aspects of the project, you will complete an annotated bibliography featuring a minimum of four research articles. Two of the articles that you find should be related to the theories you related to your topic that you intend to feature in your final proposal. The other two articles should discuss applied research related to your topic area.
For each article, include a summary that highlights howthe article relates to your chosen topic and setting, and address the following questions:

Overview
When engaged in the research process, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of information you are taking in. Sometimes writers begin to lose track of how the content they are reading will be helpful in supporting the claims they make in their papers or in addressing their research question. A working annotated bibliography helps writers organize potentially useful resources and streamlines the process of identifying relevant research.
When drafting a proposal, it is important to make a compelling case whythe proposed project can improve practice in an applied setting. As a psychologist, you do this by pulling from examples of theoretical and applied research from the field. Works of theoretical research establish foundational theories and offer insight as to why problems exist in an applied setting. Applied research studies observe practice in an applied setting and suggest strategies and techniques to improve a problem based on collected data. Together, these types of research comprise a well-balanced argument that explains why a problem exists and how it can be fixed.
In Module Four, you will submit a working annotated bibliography with at least four assignments, including scholarly books or articles, pertaining to your proposal topic, applied setting, and the research questions identified in Module Two. Two of the articles you find should be related to the theories you related to your topic that you intend to feature in your final proposal. The other two articles should discuss applied research related to your topic area.
For each article, include one paragraph summarizing how the article relates to your chosen topic and setting and a second paragraph addressing the following questions:
How do the research results and statistical findings in the article apply to your research question and your applied setting? What are the strengths and limitations of the research results and findings in supporting the research question? How could you expand on available research to more specifically address your research question?
Conclude each assignment with a brief critique of the article. What are the strengths or limitations of the research? How could future research build on these findings?
What to Submit
Each annotation should be 1-2 paragraphs in length, double-spaced in Times New Roman 12-point font, using proper APA citations.

Milestone Two: Annotated Bibliography
In Module Four, you will work from the topic, applied setting, and research questions you identified in Milestone One and start identifying relevant research to support your final proposal. You will complete an annotated bibliography featuring a minimum of four research articles. In your bibliography, you will reflect on how the research applies to your topic, explore strengths and limitations of the research, and propose ways to expand on the research. This milestone will be graded using the Milestone Two Rubric.

Memory Processes and Disorders in the Geriatric Community
Understanding and improving memory is very important in the setting of geriatric mental
health, which makes it an exciting topic of cognitive psychology. Memory problems, Alzheimer’s
disease, and dementia are all increasing concerns for the older population as they age. As a result,
it is essential to work on solutions to improve memory and forestall its decline among older people.
Contemporary Problem
The incidence of age-related memory impairments and the potential progression to more
severe illnesses like Alzheimer’s disease and dementia are current issues that pertain to memory
and geriatric mental health (Peng et al., 2019). Many older adults have trouble remembering and
retrieving information, affecting their ability to operate normally, independence, and general
mental health. Age-related memory loss can significantly negatively influence everyday
functioning, impairing independence, communication, and overall quality of life (Weng et al.,
2019). The discipline of mental health, where experts work to enhance cognitive performance and
lessen the harmful impacts of memory impairments, is particularly pertinent.
Research Questions
1. How can we help the elderly population’s cognitive performance and memory retention? What are
the most effective memory enhancement strategies?
2. How does exercise affect memory and other cognitive functions in older people, and can it be used
to stave off memory loss?
3. How much may the elderly benefit from technologically based interventions, such as memory
training apps or virtual reality exercises?

In the context of geriatric mental health, these research questions examine the potential
enhancement of memory and cognition in older adults. We can develop targeted interventions and
programs to support memory health and general well-being in older communities by studying
effective memory-enhancing techniques, the impact of physical activity, and the potential for
technology-based interventions.

The Teacher’s remarks:
Although a little brief and missing citations, you did well in explaining two theories and you
more or less connected them to an applied setting (although really you connected them to a
population – seniors).
Ensure in your second paper you are required to explain concepts and terminology that non psychologists won’t know so please ensure you do so in your second paper. Clearly and
specifically connect them to the applied setting and population.
Your first application included appropriate actionable steps professionals could take to aid
seniors with visual perception. However, your second focused on memory training – that was
less clear on how it related to visual perception although I can see you tried to conn ect the
two. Ensure in your second paper you keep your focus on the specific topic; don’t stray away
from it.
Criterion Feedback
Great job using headings, but I would prefer that you follow the same ‘flow’/order as the rubric
and use the rubric titles for your headings.
It was excellent that you included an introduction but please note that APA does not use
‘Introduction’ heading.
This assignment is about visual perception, so it was confusing that you wrote about memory
training program in your intro.
You must support all claims with scholarly sources. For example, in the first sentence under
Explanation of Theory of Visual Attention, that sentence should have had a citation.
Additionally, any time you write the name of a theory, you must have a citation.
Rather than write words like ‘this study’ please use the citation instead – always – that is clearer
and more specific.
Your references list should begin on a new page. Article titles should only have the first word
and the first word after a colon capitalized (unless a proper noun). Include all elements of a
reference such as page numbers.
Authors last names in citations should be capitalized.
Excellent job using so many scholarly sources!
